I have been an intuitive, psychic medium my whole life. I have been learning to listen to my inner self, emotions, feelings, sensations and to other worldly perceptions and advice that comes to my senses. I often hear a voice in my left ear. It is generally women spirits who speak to me, although it can also occasionally be a man, particularly if it is a male relative or someone I have known in life who has passed on. Their energy and voice is distinctly male or female, and sometimes can be androgynous.

We all have intuition.

Our intuition works in the background all the time. While you might not think about it much, it is there. It is becoming more and more acceptable in our society, it is featured in a lot of our entertainment such as television shows and in books and media in general, both fiction and non-fiction.

I saw a massive government sign recently on a highway saying something like “Use your sixth sense to get home safely”. It was in relation to the current motorbike road safety campaign by the Queensland government. Their website states that “Your sixth sense is that unique instinct all riders share” and it offers riders tips to increase and use their sixth sense to stay safe on the roads.

It’s becoming the norm to talk about the sixth sense, but it’s still not completely recognised or utilised as a ‘normal’ everyday ability we can all use to our advantage. Nor is it taught to us as children or teens or adults. If it was – if we were taught to listen to and enhance our natural powerful intuition – it would be a very different world.

It’s not just the big things.

There are big things, like talking to deceased loved ones, spirits or angels or sensing tsunamis before they occur, but also, there are just the normal everyday things that our psychic sense can pick up on at any time of the day or night. Here are some examples:

  • Although there were no outward signs, we just suddenly get a feeling something is about to happen, so we slow down our car and the next minute the car in front of us brakes suddenly;
  • We have a funny feeling that our child is not well or something is up with them and then we get the call from the school to come pick them up;
  • We think about phoning someone and the next minute the telephone rings and it is that exact person;

These are all perfectly natural and normal and healthy things for us to experience. We are perceptive in so many ways. We judge, assess, watch, learn, hear, and feel so much more than we are consciously aware of. The thing is, we can make it conscious. We can start to express our intuitions, and non-judgementally talk to each other about them. When we start to do this, our intuition increases and strengthens because we are using it with awareness.

For example.

When I lived with a dear friend many years ago, I was putting something into a bin, that was kept in a cupboard, directly under the kitchen sink. As I was putting the rubbish into the bin, I felt this wave of hate coming from the open cupboard. This is hard to explain but I literally felt a whoosh of hate, and I realised I was always feeling that particular feeling when I went to the cupboard. It was like when you meet someone who’s angry and this angry vibe is coming off them. I told my friend, who was sitting on the lounge at the time, that I could sense this hate coming out of the cupboard and I didn’t know why. He looked at me sheepishly and apologised, because whenever he went to put rubbish in the bin, he said he would think about how much he hated the bin being in the cupboard!

Because I’m so sensitive to energy and emotions I was able to pick up on the emotions he was leaving behind every time he used the bin!

Another Powerful Example…

Recently my Irish husband and I were sitting together talking. He got up and walked down the hall, got something in the kitchen and came back again. He was gone for all of a minute. But when he came back he was different. His body and breath smelt different to me. The emotive energy he was omitting was different. As he went to sit down next to me I told him that he “smelled like Dublin”. I swear he’d just visited Ireland and came back! He said that when he left me and was walking down the hall he was thinking about when we lived in Ireland and how he felt that when we were sitting together hanging out it felt like the way it used to when we were in Ireland. So he was reminiscing, he went deep into his memory banks and he said he really felt like he went to our old place in Dublin. And this energy was all over him, even in his breath! We hadn’t been talking about Dublin or Ireland at all before he went down that hall, we had been discussing our kids and our work. My body read his body, his thoughts and memories and I felt his memory, I even smelt it!

There are so many stories like this from my life.

There are so many stories to share with you.  Perhaps you might also remember times when your intuition, your instinct has kicked in and you have just known something without knowing how you know it, you just do. These moments can be big or small, they can save your life or someone else’s or sometimes they can just be very interesting and make for great stories!

All of these psychic stories are important because they show that we are so much more than skin and bones.

We are very powerful, fascinating, intelligent and wise spirits having a human experience here; with so much to discover and enjoy about what it is we can do and what it is we are a part of – a bigger spiritual, spatial, extraordinary world. For one, there are angels and spirits and other beings around us at all times, as I discuss in my book, “Memoir of a Psychic” and will discuss in a future post.

One thing is for sure, there is so much more to this world than meets the eye…
